Contrary to popular belief, it is not self-esteem we need but Christ-esteem.
Malachi 3:16-18 ~ Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name. “They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not serve him.
Philippians 3:7-11 ~ But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ the righteousness from God that depends on faith – that I may know him and the power of the resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection of the dead.
